The OY-2 is a Marine version of the Stinson L-5 Sentinel.  Stinson L-5’s were built between 1942 and September 1945.  Our OY-2 was delivered in July 1945, just weeks before the war ended.

L-5’s were used in WW II and in the Korean war for artillery spotting, observation, and liaison roles.  Later models like the OY-2 were also equipped with a stretcher and cargo area and were used to bring supplies to front line troops as then evacuate wounded from the front lines back to the hospitals.
