SUMMARY:BT-13 Rides Day
DESCRIPTION:With the expected weather\, the BT-13 was not able to fly on the 16th.   However we were able to reschedule the BT-13 for Rides on Sept 27th. \nWere looking forward to a fun day of flying at the Richard I Bong Airport\, where you could take a ride in a World War II Basic Trainer.  The Vultee BT-13 was the basic trainer that most World War II pilots would train in before moving on to more advanced aircraft. \nMost rides are currently booked\, but 1-2 slots might still be open\, please contact us directly if you would like to be on the standby list. \nThe hangar will be open for extended hours (from 9-5) for anyone who would like to visit our museum or to see or learn more about the BT-13’s important role in the 2nd World War.

DESCRIPTION:We hope you are as excited as we are about the 3rd Annual Bong Airport Open house! \nThe airport opens at 7:30 with breakfast\, a fly in\, and flying opportunities. \nOur hangar will open at 9am with lunch service starting at 11am. \nAt 11 am will also be hosting some fun classes for kids to learn more about aviation. \nA classic car gathering is expected to arrive around 1PM \nThroughout the day\, you can check out our museum\, hop in the pilot’s seat of our Black Cat PBY\, or take some photos next to our classic warbirds. \nWith the entire airport open\, there are plenty of opportunities to learn about aviation or even take a fun flight in a plane or helicopter and see the area from the sky. \nThroughout the day\, you can also visit some great local groups like the Civil Air Patrol\, the Bordertown Betties\, the Bong Veterans Center\, the Air Force\, and Lake Superior College. \nA big thank you to this year’s sponsors including Lake Superior College\, visit their booth to learn more about how to begin a new career in Aviation.  Thank you as well to Earth Rider Beer and the City of Superior for sponsoring the event. \nPlease remember all flight activities are weather dependent. \n  \nFull Schedule: \n7:30 AM – Doors Open at the EAA\, Breakfast and Flying at EAA Hangar \n11 AM – Lunch is served at Lake Superior Squadron Hangar \n11 AM – Youth Aviation Education \n11 AM – Lake Superior Helicopter flight (until 3) \n12:30PM – World War II Warbird Run Up \n1 PM  – Classic Car Gathering (until ~5) \n2 PM – Dancing to the Blue Water Big Band (until ~4) \n
